Privacy Policy — Anchor (Android)

Last updated: March 22, 2026

Overview

Anchor is a personal operating system for long-term behavioral consistency. This privacy policy explains what data Anchor collects, how it is stored, and what is shared with third parties.

Short version: Anchor stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.

1. Data We Collect

Data you enter

Anchor stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • • Goals you create (core goals, dynamic goals, maintenance items, strategic goals and phases)
  • • Daily check-ins (energy level, goal marks, notes)
  • • Weekly reviews (reflection answers, commitments, scores)
  • • App preferences (color theme, appearance mode)
  • • Notification reminder settings (stored locally on-device)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it using the built-in export feature.

Data we do not collect

  • • We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information
  • • We do not collect location data
  • • We do not use analytics or crash reporting services
  • • We do not use advertising SDKs
  • • We do not track usage behavior or in-app events

2. Data Storage

All data is stored locally in a SQLite database on your device using Room. App preferences are stored using Jetpack DataStore. No data is synced to any cloud service or external server.

3. In-App Purchases

Anchor offers a one-time lifetime purchase via Google Play Billing. When you make a purchase:

  • • The transaction is processed entirely by Google Play
  • • Anchor receives only a confirmation that the purchase was acknowledged
  • • We do not receive or store your payment details, billing address, or Google account information

Google's privacy policy applies to all billing transactions: https://policies.google.com/privacy

4. Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, Anchor schedules local notifications using Android's AlarmManager. These reminders are processed entirely on-device. No notification content is transmitted to any server.

5. Export and Import

The export feature generates a JSON or Markdown file containing your app data. This file is shared using Android's native share sheet — you choose where it goes (Files, email, etc.). Anchor does not receive a copy of exported data.

If you import a backup file, it replaces your current data locally. Anchor does not transmit imported data anywhere.

6. Third-Party Services

Anchor does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

The only third-party interaction is Google Play Billing for in-app purchases, governed by Google's own privacy policy.

7. Children's Privacy

Anchor does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app contains no account creation, social features, or data collection of any kind.

8. Data Deletion

To delete all your data, use Settings → Delete All Data within the app. This permanently removes all goals, logs, reviews, and preferences from your device.

Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data.

9. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
